MINT focus mainly on road, railway, maritime and air transport

MINT has the duty to:
- study and participate in the elaboration and implementation of legal and regulatory measures pertaining to transport;
- study and participate in the elaboration and implementation of legal and regulatory road safety measures in collaboration with the Relevant ministries;
- ensure the coordinated development of all modes of transport;
- ensure or control the organization and functioning of air, railway, maritime and river transport;
- ensure or control the organization and functioning of road transport and road safety in collaboration with the Relevant ministries;
The Ministry also:
Administers, on behalf of the Minister, the contract with the transport Service of Cameroon for the provision of public weather warnings and forecasts.
Manages the Motor Vehicle Register  and revenue collection functions which includes the collection and refund of motor vehicle registration and licensing fees, road user charges and fuel excise duty, and the maintenance of the MVR. The Cameroon Transport Agency is contracted to provide these services under an agreement with the Secretary for Transport.
Has responsibility for the operation of the  Airport, and oversees the Crown's interest in joint venture airports.
Represents the country at international forums.
Licenses all international airlines operating to and from Cameroon.
The Ministry does  have a hands-on-role in daily traffic, aviation, rail or maritime matters.

Transport plays a major role in Cameroon society and economy. It contributes to job creation, our social, cultural and sporting interactions, and it supports growth in international trade and tourism.

Air transport
The National Airspace Policy stated the Government’s views and expectations for airspace, air navigation and air traffic management and clarified for the aviation industry how New Zealand’s airspace would be developed and modernized.

Road and Rail transport
The Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass  set heavy vehicle size and weight limits, and performance and use requirements, while balancing productivity, efficiency, safety and cost objectives.

Maritime is one of  core issues in transport sector. The Ministry chairs the Maritime sector Oversight Committee which brings together maritime agencies to oversee. It acts as the Strategic Coordination Agency for maritime sector, leads maritime security policy and implementation of the Maritime Security Strategy.

Driving License 

  • 1.Go to the Licensing Office to apply for a driver's license.
  • 2.Complete an application form.
  • 3.Submit the completed form along with all other required documents.
  • 4.Sit in and pass the Theory Test.
  • 5.Pay the relevant fee before receiving your learner's permit. The permit will allow you to practice your driving skills (supervised) as preparation for the road test.
  • 6.Once you think you are ready, set up an appointment to take the practical driving test.
  • 7.After passing the test, pay all necessary fees.
  • 8.Receive a certificate that states you pass the practical test and that you are 9.awaiting the issuance of your driving license. If a month passes and you 10.haven't got your driver's license, your certificate will be renewed every 11.month until you receive your license. The license is valid for 10 years and is issued by the Ministry of Transport.

  • The application fee and examination costs 20.000fcfa and the issuance of the driving license costs 10.000Fcfa.

  • Minimum age requirements:

  • Category A (Motorcycle): 16 years old
  • Category B, E and G: 18 years old
  • Category C, D, F and special permits: 21 years old

  • For class A, B, C: 10 years
  • For class A, B, C, D and the license holder is 55 years old or older, and holders of class A, B, C license aged between 55-60 years: 5 years
